SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The Sevier County Sheriff's Office says a Las Vegas man was caught transporting more than 100 pounds of marijuana through Utah over the weekend.
According to Sevier County officials, Sgt. Adrian Hillin stopped a vehicle for speeding on I-70.
Officials say the driver, 32-year-old Clifford Scott Thompson was driving a rental car that was not rented under his name.
Sevier County officials say Sgt. Hillin called for a Salina City Police drug dog unit that detected marijuana in the trunk of the car.
Hillin discovered 6 suitcases carrying vacuum-sealed packs of marijuana inside the trunk, and Thompson was arrested and booked on suspicion of Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute. Bail was set at $50,000, cash only.
Sevier County officials estimated the street value of the drugs to be around $760,000.
