HERRIMAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - ABC 4 recently received several emails from people in Herriman saying they have a problem with fast drivers and need the Speed Zapper. We brought it to them and zapped one driver who admits he's a hypocrite.

On Emmeline Drive in Herriman, there's no shortage of kids, pets, or pedestrians. That's a problem because neighbors tell ABC 4, drivers there not only speed, they don't pay attention.

“They kind of forget,” said Tina Falk, Herriman resident. “They're on a mission to get to school or work and that's it.”

Tina Falk is just one of several people who live on Emmeline, who emailed us worried about their children.

“There's not enough time to stop at the rate these people are driving,” said Falk.

To slow 'em down, the Speed Zapper brought out Unified Police and went to work. We zapped one woman going 38 mph in a 25 mile-an-hour zone with van full of kids, another woman going 40 mph, and a father who admits he's a hypocrite.

"I usually waive to people to slow down, we're right on that street,” said the father.

“So you're usually the guy telling other people to slow down?” asked Reporter Brian Carlson.

“I am, yes. I'm the ironic hypocrite,” the father said.

“And today we got you?” Carlson asked.

“Yes," he said.

Police tell us fast drivers are a common sight on Emmeline.

“The fastest I've seen is about 40 mph in a 25 zone,” said Officer Kenny Cannon, Unified Police Dept.

Our worried mom is hoping the tickets these drivers received, will help them get the message.

“Slow down and be attentive,” Falk said.

And if they don't, our hypocrite dad has a suggestion.

“What would you say to mom's who are worried about your driving?” Carlson asked.

“I would say holler at me, get my attention. And I, yah, I shouldn't be going over the speed limit out here,” he said.

If you need Brian to zap speeders in your neighborhood, let him know about it. Just go to the Speed Zapper section of abc4.com. Tell him about the problem. And he’ll zap ‘em.

The first step should be one of those tattletales. Meaning the sign that tells you what the speed limit is and the speed you are going. Not bringing in the police. If they find out who did, there may be silent retaliation against that person. After all, you are publishing their names in the article.
