WEST VALLEY, Utah (ABC 4 News) -- West Valley Police are searching for two juveniles they say hit a Smith's store clerk over the head with a blunt object.

Police say the assault happened overnight at the Smith's Food and Drugs store at 4065 south Redwood Road.

Investigators say the clerk noticed the pair in the beer aisle and confronted them due to their youthful appearance.  The clerk suspected the two boys may have been plotting a beer theft.

While the clerks back was turned, one of the youths struck him in the back of the head with a blunt object, knocking the clerk down.

The two juveniles then ran out of the store.  The clerk was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
