SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) Nine Utah soldiers returned from Afghanistan, and were welcomed home with hugs and cheer Sunday afternoon.
The soldiers are from the 405th Civil Affairs BN Delta Company which is based in Las Vegas, Nevada. With the majority of the company landing there, the nine Utah men wouldn't receive the same hero's welcome as the main body of the company. Crislee Moreno, wife to Captain Alberto Moreno who returned Sunday, organized a gathering of friends and family to greet the nine troops.
The men arrived about 4 p.m. to the smiling faces and burst of joy from children and spouses.
Cpt. Moreno said leaving is always the hardest part, but coming to a family is worth it.
The company is part of civil affairs, assisting with reconstruction of the country and communicating with civilians. Troops in the company are not typical soldiers, instead being experts in engineering, logistics and communication.
