SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A Utah rescue dog that helped at ground zero after nine eleven, and in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is being honored.  Jake has passed away, but his legacy lives on.
Tuesday, the state unveiled its second animal response trailer.  It has Jake's picture on it and is dedicated to his memory.
It will be taken to emergencies like fires, floods and hurricanes to provide shelter for up to 100 pets that can't be taken when families have to evacuate.
Jake's former handler Mary Flood says Jake is still her role model as she continues her work with other search and rescue dogs.  And, she says she's honored to have Jake remembered this way.
Jake died in 2007 after battling cancer.  No one knows for sure if his service in the rubble at nine eleven contributed to his disease.
