SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A man convicted in the death of a disabled woman at his home is being sentenced to 1 to 15 years in Utah State Prison.

The 53-year-old Dale Beckering was convicted by a jury of felony abuse of a disabled adult.

Beckering was sentenced Monday in Salt Lake City's 3rd District Court. His wife and a stepdaughter also face charges.

The stepdaughter was the woman's legal guardian, and Beckering insisted he had nothing to do with her death by dehydration and lethal levels of Benadryl on March 25, 2010.

His lawyer is appealing the conviction.

Prosecutors claimed the 22-year-old woman, Christina Harms, had been bound crucifixion-style in a closet in the home.
