SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - State fire managers will rescind all 2012 fire closures on Bureau of Land Management, state and unincorporated private lands at midnight on Sept. 7th.
The BLM advises the public to check with local authorities when participating in activities which involve open flames, since cities and towns still have varying fire restrictions.
While statewide fire restriction on target shooting are rescinded, the BLM still has a temporary shooting restriction in place on about 900 acres of land west of Utah Lake.
“The danger isn’t gone and the fire season isn’t over yet," warns Dick Buehler, State Forester. "We still need to use good safe campfire practices and everyone needs to be careful doing anything that might lead to wildfire.”
Firefighters continue to respond to wildland fires on a daily basis throughout the state, but fire danger has decreased as cooler temperatures and higher moisture levels make fire spread potentially lower.
The closed burn season is still in effect until Oct. 31st, and individuals wishing to conduct agricultural or debris burning are still required to obtain a permit from their county fire warden or other designated county official.
