SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A 46-year-old woman whose car fatally struck a 6-year-old girl in a Salt Lake City crosswalk has been ordered to stand trial.
Third District Judge Elizabeth Hruby-Mills ruled Friday there was sufficient evidence to bind Janeen Lundberg of Millcreek Township over for trial in the March 14 accident that killed Ambrosia Amalathithada-Ramseyer.
Police testified that Lundberg was driving under the influence of sedatives when she swerved around a car and hit the girl and her mother, Natalie Randall.
Randall suffered fractures in her legs, pelvis, neck and skull.
Lundberg faces felony charges of automobile homicide or second-degree manslaughter and driving under the influence of drugs. She also faces misdemeanor charges of failure to yield to a pedestrian and illegal turning.
Lundberg is scheduled to be arraigned Dec. 17.
