SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - The first significant winter storm is looking to affect the Wasatch Front's morning and evening commutes Tuesday. A cold front is scheduled to arrive in Salt Lake City between 5 AM and 8 AM Tuesday morning. Roads could become slushy as rain turns over to snow quickly behind the front.

Total snow accumulations will range between 1 and 4 inches in lower valley locations statewide, 2 to 6 inches in higher mountain valleys, and 12 to 24 inches in the mountains. Model-generated snow predictions suggest the southeast end of Salt Lake County (places such as Sandy and Draper) and locations near the Oquirrh Mountain range could receive higher amounts of snow accumulations due to lake-enhanced snow bands.

Temperatures will only be in the mid to upper 30s along the Wasatch Front by Tuesday evening. The snow and cold temperatures will reach statewide with St. George only expecting highs in the low 50s Tuesday and Wednesday with rain and Cedar City with highs in the 40s and snow.

Stay tuned to Roland Steadham for the latest forecast Monday evening and Marti Skold Tuesday morning to give you the latest storm information you need as you head out the door to work.
