SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A second suspect in the robbery of a Cottonwood Heights Credit union has been arrested.

After an investigation by the FBI and the Cottonwood Heights Police Department, U.S. marshalls arrested Alejandro Torres, a.k.a. “Casper”.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service and the Joint Criminal Apprehension Team arrested Torres Tuesday night without incident at an apartment complex in West Jordan.

Torres had been at large since the September 30, 2009 robbery of the Mountain America Credit Union at 6440 South 3000 East in Cottonwood Heights.

FBI Special Agents and detectives of the Cottonwood Heights Police Department apprehended one subject, Jose Miguel Almarez, shortly after the robbery. Investigators believe Torres also took part in the robbery. Both Almarez and Torres have been indicted on federal charges for the robbery.

Police say the suspects used guns and threatened credit union employees during the September 30 robbery. They left the scene in a Jaguar.
