SANDY, Utah (AP) - A Sandy man has been charged with automobile homicide in the June death of a Cottonwood High School assistant football coach.
Police say 23-year-old Blake Timothy Molder drove his SUV into the back of Michael Gallegos' car at 95 mph while Gallegos was stopped at a South Jordan stoplight.
The 39-year-old Gallegos died at the scene of the early-morning accident June 23.
Molder is charged with a second-degree felony and several misdemeanors.
A police report says Molder told authorities he had several drinks at a bar that evening and smoked marijuana earlier in the day.
Molder remains in Salt Lake County Jail with bail set at $250,000.
Whether he had an attorney was not immediately known.
