SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A board of Salt Lake County officials is set to declare a GOP nominee for the county mayor's race.

Election officials say the Republican primary was too close to call June 26 when West Valley City Mayor Mike Winder trailed management consultant Mark Crockett by 239 votes. Winder refused to concede.

Salt Lake County Clerk Sherri Swenson says more than 7,000 uncounted absentee and provisional ballots will go to a Board of Canvassers that's empowered to declare a winner Tuesday. The board is made up of members of the Salt Lake County Council.

The GOP winner will face state Democratic Sen. Ben McAdams in the November election.
