SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Salt Lake County Animal Services is offering a deal to get dogs and cats into new, good homes.

The animal shelter is celebrating record number of pet adoptions with a 50% off adoption promotion.  From now until the end of October all dogs are 50% off.  And, all kitties and cats are always free to adopt.

From January through August 25, 2010, 1,604 pets were adopted from the shelter.  Compare that to the same time period last year when 1,087 pets were adopted.

Salt Lake County Animal Services is one of 50 shelters across the country competing for $100,000 from ASPCA Saving More Lives $100,000 Challenge.  Every pet that's adopted increases the shelter's chance of winning that money.
