SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Police say a suspicious bag found near the Matheson Courthouse in Salt Lake City contained personal items and clothing and wasn't dangerous.

Police Det. Dennis McGowan says a sheriff's deputy found the bag Friday morning on the lawn between the 3rd District Court courthouse building and a parking garage.

Court officials evacuated the building as a precaution, and a bomb squad was called in.

Salt Lake City police say the bag was later found to contain just personal items and clothing.

The evacuation order for the building has since been lifted and the streets around the courthouse have been re-opened.
