SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - SWAT team police officers entered a house in Salt Lake City in search of the man police believe shot and killed a Millard County Sheriff deputy.
After shooting tear gas into the home, a shed, a camper and other structures on the property, police searched and the area and said the suspect was not found. Police say Roberto Miramontes Roman is at large and considered armed and dangerous.
Roman is the primary suspect in the shooting death of Millard County Sheriff Deputy Josie Greathouse Fox, who was killed during a traffic stop outside Delta early Tuesday morning.
Later Tuesday afternoon, witnesses reported that police surrounded a home in Nephi, where two people were taken into custody and a third may have remained inside. The SWAT team activity in Nephi was later determined to have no relation to the Deputy Fox shooting, and may have been a false alarm in the investigation.
A Cadillac DeVille being sought by investigators in connection with the shooting was located Tuseday morning in Nephi.
Police also released the name of 36-year-old Ruben Chavez Reyes as a second person of interest in the shooting on Tuesday.
