ROY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A Roy woman escaped further danger after her husband shot her multiple times in front of her 5-year-old son Saturday night.
Around 10:30 p.m. police responded to the area of 3800 West 4750 South on a report of a man who had shot his wife, said Roy Police Chief Greg Whinham.
Whinham said Christopher Locke, 41, barricaded himself inside his home after stepping outside, brandishing a gun and demanding neighbors tell him where she had gone.
SWAT officials were called to the scene and after two hours of negotiating, were able to apprehend the suspect.
It is unknown how many times the victim was shot, but Whinham says all the wounds appeared to be localized in the lower half of her body. He said she was in surgery all night.
Whinham said police are not commenting on the type of weapons involved, but stated more than one gun was found inside the home.
This was the first of two stand-offs in Roy Saturday night. The other occurred in the area of 3900 West 4500 South, which was called in around 3 a.m., and reported no injuries.
