MURRAY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Police officers in Murray were forced to shoot a man after he pointed a gun at them.

It happened just before 2:00 AM on Tuesday at 4543 Creek View Drive.

The man was threatening to shoot himself with what police believed was a handgun, but was later discovered to just be a BB gun.

When the officers tried to get him to put the gun down, he refused and instead pointed the gun at the officers.

The cops opened fire because of the threatening gesture, hitting the man twice.

He is currently in critical condition, but is expected to survive.
