Know this: -office politics do have a part to play, of course. -Gotti was raised with young children, many cats and other dogs, no aggression. -The family isn't asking that an aggressive attack dog be released to harm again. They are asking in all fairness to Gotti who they know to be a loving & loyal companion the oppurtunity to stand separately, have custody transferred to an organization that will perform an unbiased evaluation that can lead to training & ultimately placement in a caring & safe environment and not to have the value of his life dismissed or disregarded as a result of the owner's misquidance and exploiting of his qualities & skills. Our tax $ pays to train prospective K9's to attack on command some of which are rehabilitated Pit bulls. There's a place for Gotti, a victim of circumstance if ever there was 1 & he at least deserves to be heard. -It was the owner that @ 1 time rescued Gotti & several other puppies that were destined to fight. It is unfortunate that his journey has taken him into the darkness & has now become what he was protecting Gotti from. -Gotti has a facebook where there is a link to a petition requesting what's stated above. At least read his information page. www.facebook.com/GottafreeGotti -There is a court hearing today & every signature counts. Thank you for reading.

This just makes me so sad because I have never met Gotti, but I already knew about him from my son because he does know him and his owner. This dog was around children without any problems. And maybe we should really start looking at the owners of these animals before we are so quick to judge the animal. To the man at the Callaway apts. who sicked his much larger pitbull mix (by letting go of his leash) on Gotti causing one of the people walking with Gotti to be bit, you should be locked up for using your dog as a weapon. Why do people use their dogs to fight there own battles? I've also heard that the owner of Gotti was in the military, could he possibly be having some problems with that? I don't know this for sure, but why are we so quick to judge and to put an animal down because its just easier. I have heard stories about this cool dog named Gotti who was staying at a friends house and that is where I first heard about him. Death row for this dog is not fair and don't we try to save homeless pets and adopt from shelters so animals don't have to be put down. I agree, give Gotti his first chance at a normal life!! We will be there on Sat. to show our support!!!

I personally know both Gotti and his owner and I can say with confidence that this dog is not an aggressive animal and wouldn't have attacked if he was not ordered to. Everyone talks about giving Gotti a second chance, but what he really needs is a first chance. He is still very young, this is what he has grown up to. He needs a stable home with a family who loves and takes care of him! "mean dogs" are not born, they are created by being abused and neglected. Unfortunatly Gotti doesn't know any better there for he stays with and obeys his owner, the only consistant thing in his life. Please come and help us find Gotti a wonderful, loving home before it is too late. Join us on Saturday, June 16th at 11:00am-2:00pm for a ralley to show your support of giving Gotti the chance he deserves. We will be meeting at Salt Lake County Animal Services, located at 3900 south and 511 west. Bring as many supporters as you can in hopes to change the judges mind, we look forward to seeing you there!

This is ridiculous! A dog protects his master and now gets a death sentence?! I realize a police officer was bitten; however, dogs don't know the difference between good and bad guys when it comes to defending the people they love. They go into protection mode, especially if given the command by their master, which apparently this dog was. Punish the owner, NOT the dog! The dog did his job. I wonder what the outcome would have been if this dog had bitten a "bad" person that was attacking a child? Bet everyone would be singing his praises, the dog would be a "hero" then! Like I said, dogs don't understand good vs bad. I'm sure he didn't recognize the uniform and think to himself, "Oh, this is a Police Officer, I can't bite him" when he felt his master was in danger. Get real people! Do NOT put this dog down, he did NOTHING wrong! PUNISH THE OWNER!!!

So they are seeking to put the dog down BECAUSE HE OBEYED HIS OWNER. Brilliant. Seriously, when will they GET IT?! Pit bulls... ANY dog, really... are just dogs. They do not make judgement calls. DOGS are not bad. But BAD PEOPLE can own dogs. Those bad people can tell their dog to do bad things. Those people should be punished. They should be punished for using an innocent animal as a weapon. But the animal does not deserve punishment, especially if they were just being obedient! They can, and have, rehabilitate dogs that have even been used for fighting. Read about the Vicktory Dogs at Best Friends. BAN BAD OWNERS.

That dog should absolutely not be put down because its dumb owner abused the power of the dogs training and love. Dogs don't see police uniforms and trouble-making thugs. That dog just knew his owner, the love and obedience for his owner, and his training! It's disgusting that animal control doesn't understand the simplest thing about animals. Although "office" politics are probably more at play than actually doing what's right. If that hoodlum's family is willing to keep the dog let them! If it attacks someone without command or provocation under their charge then re-open the idea of putting it down. For heaven's sake I wish our society had some brains.
