CAMP WILLIAMS, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Officials say a fire that began on Sunday on Camp Williams property continued to burn through Monday.

Fire crews from Camp Williams, Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, and Utah County have been working to contain the fire.

The fire burned away from Saratoga Springs as the wind was favorable.

Saratoga Springs officials said there was a large road on Camp Williams property that should act as a barrier to the fire, keeping it contained to Camp Williams and from spreading to homes.

Saratoga Springs officials recommended that all residents living near the Camp Williams border make a plan and prepare in case an evacuation order is given.

City officials said they would notify affected residents through reverse 911 phone calls if necessary.

Eagle Mountain residents could see the flames and smoke from the fire as is burned. The fire spread to more than 1,600 acres by Monday evening.

Winds blew from the north Monday afternoon. By evening the winds were expected to blow from the south.

Officials believe the fire was started by lightning.
