MILLCREEK & MURRAY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A 64-year-old Millcreek man was hit by a mini-van while he was on his morning jog.
He was rushed to the hospital but couldn't be saved. That accident happened by St. Mark's Hospital, but the man was taken to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.
The decision left many of you wondering why the man was taken to IMC rather than the Hospital just down the road.
"That's crazy. That don't make sense. I don't know why someone would do that," said Mindy Tollstrup.
"I think it's ridiculous. There's a hospital right there it could have saved his life," said Autumn Spencer.
This is candid reaction was gathered before telling these women a few details.
The victim had sever head trauma and needed immediate attention.
IMC in Murray is a level one trauma center. St. Mark's is a level three trauma center.
Basically, IMC is a better hospital to treat trauma patients.
Paramedics drove an extra four miles to IMC. The trip adds up to about 11 minutes if the driver is obeying the speed limits and stopping at lights.
"I think that would have made a huge difference. It's a huge difference, 11 minutes is 11 minutes," said Spencer.
