OREM, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Police say an Orem woman was cited for leaving her 3-year-old daughter inside a car for about 20 minutes.

Orem police say the child was left sleeping in the car at TJ Maxx parking lot by the mother who went inside the store to use the restroom.

Police say another shopper heard the girl crying and lifted her out of the window that had been left lightly open.

According to police, the temperature outside was in the 80s, but inside the car, the temperature was over 110 degrees.

Police say the mother was apologetic, and was cited.

The girl was checked by emergency personnel and released at the scene.

Police warned parents to never leave children unattended inside cars, no matter what the weather.
