SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – There’s a new defense mechanism that turns your cell phone from a communication device into a crime fighting machine. It’s called Yellow Jacket. It’s an iPhone case that turns your smart phone into a stun gun.
Yellow Jacket co-founder Seth Froom came up with the idea of the iPhone stun gun after a home invasion robbery. The former military police officer had guns upstairs and a stun gun elsewhere in the house, but because they weren’t close by they did little to stop the robbery that night.
In the promotional video for Yellow Jacket Froom said, “I thought of my cell phone case itself that the robber had left behind and that’s when the idea came to me.”
Froom thought if he had a form of protection that he carried with him 24/7, that night would have gone a lot differently. So since we all carry our cell phones everywhere, he thought to put a 650-thousand volt stun gun in the case. It’s said to be enough to take down a full-grown man.
