PLEASANT GROVE, Utah (AP) - Police say a Mapleton man who was concerned another driver was intoxicated took care of the traffic stop himself, then waited for police.
Police say Alan Kirkham called 911 when he saw the other driver weaving all over the road in Provo on Wednesday and followed him north on Interstate 15.
Kirkham was told there were no Utah Highway Patrol troopers in the area, so he kept following.
Kirkham jumped out of his car at a stoplight after they exited the freeway, reached in the passenger door of the other vehicle and grabbed the keys. He then pulled the other man out of the driver's seat, plunked him down on the curb and waited for police.
Police say the other driver had a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit.
