SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah woman who pleaded guilty to reduced sexual exploitation charges for trying to sell her 13-year-old daughter's virginity will spend up to 15 years in prison for the crime.

Court records show a judge in Salt Lake City's 3rd District Court sentenced the 33-year-old mother on Monday to two concurrent terms of one to 15 years in prison.

Authorities said the woman offered her daughter's virginity to a man in April in exchange for $10,000. The girl initially agreed, but later changed her mind.

The woman's boyfriend contacted police after finding text messages about the sale on the woman's cellphone.

The Associated Press has not named the mother to avoid identifying her daughter.

The woman has apologized for the crime in a letter to the judge.
