For the love people, nobody should dictate church policy or whats the point if we get to change the commandments as we see fit? but this also works both ways, the church has WAY to much power and influence in the state government, we are not ruled by the constitution but rather by the prophet of their church in this state, and don't bother denying it.

I think this is a good reminder that the church and church members more specifically need to stop defending church history as though the church is and always has been perfect. We are not. We are on a journey to become more god-like, but on that journey, we're influenced by the culture in which we are raised. It's true that black members were not allowed to hold the priesthood (with the possible exception for some members during Joseph Smith's time) or go through the temple until 1978. I think it's pretty clear that this was a mistake based on the cultural understanding leaders had at the time. I think many of the views toward the LGBT community are also culturally based not doctrinally based, and we will see those change as well.

"It's an attack on this country's religious freedom, which is what this country is all about," Since when does telling the truth = attack?

They may have "diverse" members, but they are not allowed to hold an office or enter the priesthood as all white, straight male Mormons can.

the minotiry groups are considered after their (elected) living prophet has a "vision." and those visions usually happen after a court order or some other federal pressure. lol!

well, if you accept the invisible guy in the sky/zombie jesus stuff, then mormonism would be considered a cult. they do appear open, but the closer you look the stranger they become. that asie, romney is just a big fat lying snake in the grass, a mere puppet of his cvorporate masters. obama is no great shakes, but romney administrationj would beflat out dangerous to us and the world.
