KEARNS, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Missing for two and a half years an Oregon dog and her owner are about to be re-united.

The Border Collie Australian Shepard Mix named Sara ran away from a friend's home in Salem, Oregon and her owner spent months trying to find her.

She turned up last Monday at Butterfield Canyon where she was found wandering around. Someone transported her to West Lake Animal Hospital in Kearns where workers found a microchip identifying her as Kristin Riccitti's dog.

"Either somebody was here in Oregon visiting from Utah and took her back home with them or somebody lived here and moved to Utah or went on vacation and lost her while they were there," said Riccitti.

Sara is a true companion dog. Her entire body relaxed the moment I started petting her. Her owner says this is exactly why she is loved and missed.

Sarah here is leaving Utah to return back to Oregon this coming Saturday.

Riccitti says she's a little nervous. She hopes Sarah remembers her family and looks forward to the reunion.
