SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Thrill seekers come here to Nightmare on 13th to get spooked but Saturday tables turned when police say a customer gave one of the dressed-up employees the real terror.

Angelo Demetry Apadaca has been charged with felony aggravated assault after police say he punched a female employee in the face.

“I think she had a horn of some kind, she was just standing there and he came in and threw a punch,” said Troy Barber, owner of Nightmare on 13th. “It was just completely unprovoked really.”

Police say surveillance video shows the 25 year-old Layton man looking at the employee before he punches her and she falls to the ground.

If hitting a girl wasn't bad enough a witness told detectives Apadaca laughed about it to his girlfriend.

“He wasn’t laughing when we got him, he was very surprised how quickly he was apprehended,” said Barber.

The employee had blood on her face and two teeth pushed back toward her throat. She had to be taken to the hospital to have the teeth re-set but returned to work after only taking one day off.

Apadaca has a criminal record. In 2004, he was sentenced to a year in jail for attempted manslaughter. He remains in jail on $10,000 bail.
