SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A 47-year-old driver has been sentenced to five days in jail for killing two West Valley City pedestrians.
Authorities say Michael Douglas Sleeter was driving a pickup with faulty brakes.
The Deseret News reports that Sleeter was sentenced Monday in 3rd District Court.
Sleeter previously pleaded guilty to obstructing justice for diluting a urine test and driving with a measurable amount of methamphetamine in his system.
Police say Sleeter struck 37-year-old Andrea Fuguel and 35-year-old Erika Warneke as the women left a dance club and crossed six-lane Redwood Road on March 4.
Both women died at a hospital.
