Hundreds comment on theater shooting using social media

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Social media sites are flooded with comments and posts about the theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado.

Many people are taking to Twitter using the hash tag #theatershooting to talk about movie massacre that occurred in the early morning hours Friday.

Paul Te Prieto commented on Cristina Rendon’s ABC 4 Facebook page about the victims and their families affected by the shootings. Part of it reads, “Prayers are with you all.”

Another woman tweeted this comment, “The fact that a 6 year old boy who was just there to see a movie was killed in the #theatershooting absolutely shatters my heart. Im crushed.”

Social media sites are constantly being updated with information and condolences. It’s a sign our society is evolving the way it grieves in a much more public way.

Videos posted on YouTube captured the chaos at the theater as the events unfolded.

One video shows a distance scene of the theater building as flashing lights from police cars block the parking lot. You can hear the man behind the camera say, “Oh Jesus.”
