Hiker injured after falling nearly 30 feet.

Salt Lake City, UT (ABC 4 News)- A 60-year-old male fell nearly 30 feet through the hole at Donut Falls up Big Cottonwood Canyon Saturday afternoon.

The male who was hiking with his family slipped on a rock and fell into the freezing water below. His family called for help and Search and Rescue were called to assist.

The man was in the frigid water for at least forty five minutes before help could reach him.

A medical helicopter was on scene to take the man, who was being treated for hypothermia and a severe leg injury, to a local hospital.
