SANDY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Have you ever seen a fish with four eyes?  Well, you can at the Living Planet Aquarium in Sandy.

Two of the four-eyed fish were recently born there.  The technical name of the fish is Anableps.  They originally come from the rivers of South America.  They don't really have four eyes, but their two eyes are divided in half so they can see above and below the surface of the water at the same time.

"So if there's a bug they can jump up and get it in the trees, but then if there's something underneath they can dive down and get it too," says Brian Marquez with the Living Planet Aquarium.

This is the first time the species of fish has bred successfully at the aquarium.  They're hopeful that more babies are on the way, several more of the females are pregnant.

The Anableps give birth to live babies after about an eight-week gestation.
