TAYLORSVILLE, Utah ( ABC 4 News) - The bones found in the West Desert Wednesday contain answers to many questions.
While this could be a huge break in the Susan Powell case, it's just the beginning. Experts will do some digging to find out what story is behind the bones.
ABC 4 traveled to Taylorsville to talked with the lab director of the Department of Public Safety Crime Lab where forensic scientists are working to answer questions locked away in the DNA of crime victims.
"I've always liked the chase. That is you never know what's going to happen and when it's going to happen," said lab director Jay Henry.
He can't talk specifically about the Susan Powell case but agreed to explain what science can tell us about human remains.
"Sex of a bone is it male female... age of the bone condition of the bone...what we're able to determine is sometimes if there is enough D-N-A left is to hopefully identify the actual person," said Henry.
DNA locked away inside the skeletal remains found Wednesday hold many answers.
Tonight her family and friends are anxiously waiting for the results to either bring closer or to start another chapter in the long search.
It could take about 60 days to get DNA results from a crime scene.
