WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (AP) - A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was run over by another teen following a fistfight in Salt Lake County.

Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal tells the Deseret News the boy and an 18-year-old were in a fight early Saturday morning. The older teen got in a vehicle and allegedly backed onto a grassy area where the younger teen was lying.

The 17-year-old has multiple broken bones.

Hoyal says the driver fled and later resisted when a police K-9 went looking for him near Hunter High School in West Valley City.

He was taken to the hospital to be treated for dog bites and then booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police say alcohol was a factor in the fight.
