SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A police officer is being treated for a dog bite after chasing a man and dog found sleeping at Bjorn's Brews on Foothill Drive.

An employee of the coffee shop arrived to work early Monday morning to find the man with his pit bull sleeping in the back of the building.

The employee called the police and the man ran off when the officer arrived. He chased the man on foot and tackled him. The pit bull attacked the officer but he was able to taze the dog.

The man continued to run from police. Officers say the man and dog were outstanding Monday morning.

The officer was transported to the hospital to be treated for injuries.
