FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) - Davis County has purchased seven properties along a route in the western part of the county that could eventually be home to an extension of the Legacy Parkway.
The properties are along a route identified in a 2001 study by the Wasatch Front Regional Council as the preferred alternative for the extension.
Officials hope the extension will stretch from Farmington and eventually travel through Weber County, completing the Legacy Parkway. Legacy Parkway is an alternate route to Interstate 15.
The properties bought by Davis County include 44 acres of land in Kaysville, Syracuse and West Point.
Sometime this summer the Utah Department of Transportation will begin an environmental study to determine whether there is need for the road, its potential impacts and a final alignment.
