PAYSON, Utah (ABC 4 News) – A cyber bully attacked at least forty students who attend Payson High School and Payson Junior High School.
The first round of attacks targeted high school students on Wednesday. The second round attacked Junior High students Thursday.
The bully set up a Facebook page to post hateful comments over student pictures.
“I’ve been crying last night, woke up crying and I cried all morning,” said Shyanne Spencer who attends Salem Junior High School. Spencer says she was targeted because she used to attend school in Payson.
She suspects the bully is someone all the victims know. “It’s got to be one of our close friends that we all know and we don’t know who would really do that,” she continued.
The victims featured in this story agreed to let us share their faces and their names in our broadcast. They say coming forward is their way of standing up to the bully.
One attack reads, “Why don’t guys like me? Cuz, You’re fat and gross.” Another attack reads, “I love looking like crap all the time.”
“I don’t know how someone could be so sick to do that,” said Baily Wright who is a student at Payson Junior High School.
“A lot of people are thinking that it’s funny and that the page should come back up,” Spencer said.
Some of the attacks mock girls in sexual ways with language too crude for this story.
Payson Junior High School is launching an investigation to catch the bully.
