Charges filed against man accused of beating 13-year-old son

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Salt Lake County District attorney's office has now filed five counts of child abuse against a man accused of beating his 13-month-old son.
Police say Humberto Enrique Alvarez was taking care of his son while the rest of his family was out of town.
But the child's grandmother found him, in the basement of the family's home in West Valley with severe bruising, head trauma, and a fractured leg.
Police say Alvarez admitted to throwing a laundry basket at the boy and hitting him multiple times with a shoe.
