2 dead after car collides with TRAX train

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 NEWS)-Just after 7:00 P.M. a TRAX train and car collided at 135 West 4115 South.

The train was headed southbound when the car disregarded the barriers and went onto the tracks.  The train was traveling about 55 mph when it T-boned the car.

The driver and backseat passenger on the drivers side were killed.  The other two passengers were taken to the hospital in critical condition but are expected to recover.

No one on the TRAX train was injured.

Thursday night only one track is open and trains are alternating tracks.  Both tracks should be up and running for the Friday morning commute.

All four passengers in the car were in their late teens to early twenties.

slow down and get there safe or get in a hurry and end up dead..... this and the uhp accident are lessons to everyone including those in law enforcement that hurrying kills
