HARRISVILLE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Highway 89 was re-opened early Saturday morning after an accident took the life of an 18-year-old man.
The accident happened around 8:00 p.m. Friday night near 900 North in Harrisville.
Investigators say the victim, Robert Michael Florez, was traveling at a high rate of speed when his vehicle slid on ice and into oncoming traffic where it collided with a pickup truck.
Authorities say the impact of the crash split the victim's vehicle in half, throwing the front half of the car 93 yards down the road from where the accident occured. Debris was scattered for a quarter of a mile, requiring authorities to shut down the road in both directions from 800 North to 1275 North until 2:00 a.m.
The driver of the pickup truck was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
