SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Who will Mitt Romney pick to be his running mate?
It's a question being heard more and heard more as Romney moves ever closer to the Republican presidential nomination.
And along with that, other questions being asked are:
Does Romney make a safe or bold choice?
Does he choose a man or a woman?
And will he consider a Latino?
These are just some of the issues Mitt Romney is wrestling with as he prepares to make a very important decision.
One VP name which keeps coming up is Marco Rubio.
The senator from Florida is young, conservative, charismatic, Latino and comes from a key voting state.
While he keeps getting attention, Rubio predicts he won't be Romney's choice for the number two spot.
There's also a lot of chatter about New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a strong Romney supporter.
Another name gaining traction is Ohio Senator Rob Portman.
Portman also comes from an important election state and is seen as both experienced and conservative.
Finally, there are possible candidates like:
- Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty
- Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan
- New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez
- South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.
But Haley also says she plans to stay in her current job.
