OREM, Utah (ABC 4 News) – ABC4 continues our look at Made in America companies based in Utah. The National Retail Federation tells us that if we spend just $64 this holiday season on American made products, we could create 200,000 new American jobs. One Utah company is proud to be American Made and answer the question, can you blend it?
You’ve seen it on You Tube, a man in a white lab coat blending crazy objects. Did you know that blender is made in Utah?
Blendtec has been around for years taking over the blender world both commercial and residential. But they really made it big a few years ago when they started their You Tube campaign.
Blendtec’s founder and CEO Tom Dickson told ABC4 News about the first weekend the first videos were online it was a surprising hit. Dickson said, “I was told we had 6 million views on You Tube and I said, ‘who tube?’ I didn’t even know what You Tube was.”
Now they have had a half a billion viewers.
The companies say they are the number one company for viral marketing.
Each of the blenders are made completely here in Utah, inside their facility in Orem. Nearly three hundred employees and rows of motorized equipment get the work one.
This Utah company is proud to be here and bolster our state’s economy.
Dickson said, “It is so, so possible to make almost everything in the USA and that’s exactly our goal.”
