Provo Wells Fargo Bank Robbery Suspect
Provo Wells Fargo Bank Robbery Suspect
Salt Lake City (ABC 4 News) - Salt Lake area police are trying to capture a man who robbed a cleaners. And Provo police are trying to hunt down an armed robber who got in, got the cash and got out in 40 seconds. Here is this week's Catch a Criminal.

Police say the suspect in the Provo Wells Fargo Bank robbery - went in at 10:10 Saturday morning. (See sequence of photos in slide show) He pulls out a gun and demands cash from the teller saying "Give me your money." He gets the money and quickly takes off. The total time in the bank 42 seconds. The robber is wearing sunglasses, a hoodie and bandana. That makes it hard to recognize him, but police are hopeful someone might see something familiar.

Unified Police are looking for a suspect who wasn't as quick or quick witted. Police say the man (See surveillance photo taken at nearby store) reached in through the drive through window at the Clean Express Dry Cleaners at 2945 E. 3300 S. in Millcreek. A worker chased him. When he caught up with the robber, the suspect then dropped the register and a cell phone and took off running.

And kudos to the cops who busted a couple of Cottonwood car thieves. Police were alerted by a neighbor who heard something around 3:30 in them morning near 7300 South and 2900 East. When police arrived the first suspect took off running. Police say he was dropping stolen items and jumping fences to get away. Police arrested 19-year-old Jett Rennert.
That's when cops spotted the second suspect hiding in a backyard. The unnamed juvenile was arrested after a brief struggle. If you know anything about the two unsolved robberies contact us or police and help catch a criminal.

It's sad that we still have this kind of petty crime. Often not much is taken but the damage to the business and staff can be worse. After i read this i was at a start-up launch for a new internet business that was demonstrating an ipad cash register. The start up tillify.com were demonstrating their card swipe and digital receipt services. It was super cool. It connected to a cash drawer but seeing how easily customers could pay using a digital wallet on their iphone made me realize that the use of cash is on its way out. Digital receipts and mobile wallets will take over. Which at the time i thought was sad. Seeing this news made me realize at least it will put an end to petty crime like this. The company was tillify.com. I hope retailers wake up and accept this kind of technology.
