SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff has cancer.
ABC 4 News is being told that a tumor was discovered recently while Shurtleff was having his appendix removed.
Shurtleff has been suffering from a stomach ailment for the last month or so.
The appendectomy had been scheduled because of that illness.
The tumor is believed to be malignant but "contained."
The fact that the tumor was discovered this way is reportedly being called "a miracle" by those closest to Shurtleff.
Monday afternoon, the attorney general released
a video statement on his YouTube Channel.
In it, he addresses his condition.
