SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Utah officials are cracking down on drivers who violate the rules of driving in freeway express lanes.

Nearly 1 in every 6 cars violate the rules while driving in express lanes on Utah freeways, that's according to a study conducted by UDOT.

Crossing the double-white lines is unsafe and illegal. Only carpoolers, motorcycles, buses, C Decal vehicles, emergency vehicles and solo drivers with an Express Pass are eligible to use the Express Lanes.

Violators will be issued a citation with a fine of $90.

ALSO, is the double white line a real danger issue? If you have ANY ability to observe traffic and drive defensively, you could navigate that huge hurdle.

Why doesn't UT allow non rush hour use of these lanes like real cities in AZ and CA? REVENUE! They want you to pay tolls just like back east. The sheeple in UT are slowly allowing it.
