SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City High School students have a shot at scholarships, MacBooks, iPads and other prizes, if they enter the SLCPD Student Art Contest by close of school Friday, March 29.

Each student who submits a qualifying entry will receive a contest T-shirt. All entries must be submitted to each school’s office by the close of the school day Friday, March 29. The top 20 works of art will be displayed in the Urban Room gallery of the City Library next month, with awards presented during a special event at 3 p.m. Friday, April 19.

The Police Department relies on the contest to create a public awareness campaign that speaks to teenagers about the dangers of drug and alcohol use and abuse. Since its launch in 2008, Chief Chris Burbank has awarded students more than $15,000 in scholarships for higher education.

To participate in the SLCPD Student Art Contest, students must attend a high school within Salt Lake City. Download the complete list of contest guidelines and an entry form at www.slcpd.com/studentart. Questions? Call Lara Jones at (801) 799-3340.
