SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Salt Lake County Animal Services is hoping to adopt out 1,000 pets by Saturday evening. And, to help reach that goal, all adoptions are free!
As of closing time Thursday, there had been 923 dogs and cats adopted out since the beginning of August. If the shelter reaches its goal, that means a 116% increase in adoptions over the same time period last year.
And, every animal is ready to go home with a microchip, vaccinations, sterilizations and more. "Saturday, October 30th, the first 25 cat adoptions will come with a litter box and some toys. And the first 25 dog adoptions come with the leash and collar. So, you're going to walk out of here with your pet that's ready to go home and just curl up on the couch," says April Harris the Shelter Operations Manager.
The 1,000 adoptions goal is part of an ASPCA $100,000 challenge. Right now Salt Lake County Animal Services is in 7th place.
