SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - In South Jordan Dr Zak Zarbock with Families First Pediatrics says he is still seeing a lot of hand-foot-mouth syndrome caused by the Coxsackie Virus. Symptoms typically include a fever with sores in the mouth and tender bumps on the hands and feet. He is also seeing high fevers and mouth sores without the classic rash.
Dr. Joseph Cramer at Cottonwood Pediatrics in Murray says he is seeing the beginning of school fever. The five year olds are coming in for their exams and immunizations--- they will be the high school class of 2022. Parents are happy and sad about their babies growing up and leaving home.
Doctor Shauna Gagner with Intermountain Kids Care says Fifths disease is all over Layton. The so called "Slapped Cheek Disease" is caused by a virus. Children my have a fever before breaking out with a rash-- characterized by bright red cheeks. She says Layton is also seeing a few cases of strep throat.
