SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - What we wear on our feet really can make a difference in our health and apparently, flip flops are not so good.

BJ Christenson from Salt Lake Running Company told ABC4, "All day every day in flip flops is probably not the best idea."

Auburn University researchers found wearing flip flops can result in sore feet, ankles and legs. Christenson agrees, he said the problem comes if you wear them too often.

Christenson said, "You start to develop and use some of the muscles again and again."

While Christenson advises against wearing them all day everyday, he said, "Flip flops have a place, in your casual footwear."

Here is something else to think about: You need to switch out your flip flops every three to five months just like you would your athletic shoes.
