SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – Freestyle skier, Sarah Burke continues to fight for life at the University of Utah Clinical Neurosciences Center. Her family canceled a press conference today after receiving more information about her condition.

It has now been six days since the 29-year-old Canadian X Games Gold Medalist landed wrong in an accident at the Park City Mountain Resort’s superpipe event. She remains in critical condition in an induced coma following last Wednesday’s surgery.

A University of Utah Healthcare spokesperson announced her family cancelled a news conference scheduled for today. A hospital statement says "Late Sunday night, Rory Bushfield, Sarah's husband, and members of her family met with physicians to discuss the results of Sarah's most recent neurological tests and assessments. Based on the information they received, we regret to inform you that they have decided to cancel today's press conference in order for further tests to be conducted this morning and in the coming days. The family wants to express its deep appreciation for the overwhelming support Sarah has received from all over the world. The family asks that media, fans, and friends to continue to keep Sarah and Rory in their prayers. Rory and Sarah's family remain at the hospital."

On Sarah's Facebook page thousands of people are doing just that. The prayers and well wishes pour in moments apart. They come from as far away as New Zealand, and as close as Park City.

Utah skier Maddie Ford says "Everyone should keep her in their thoughts and hope for the best."

Doctors say in the impact of her fall in Park City, Sarah suffered a brain bleed caused by a torn a vertebral artery. That artery supplies blood to the brainstem.

Her fans, like Jody Revill at Utah Ski and Golf Rentals, says the whole ski community is behind Sarah "We hope that the best possible outcome is what happens for her and that she can get back out there and do what she loves."

The family has asked that the media and fans respect their privacy. They say condition updates will be made available online at www.sarahburkeski.com
