SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A federal grand jury in Salt Lake City has indicted four men on charges of selling hair replacement drugs over the Internet without the Food and Drug Administration's approval.
Federal prosecutors say two men from Whittier, Calif., 72-year-old Dr. Richard Lee and 69-year-old James Dorius, were the owners of Regrowth LLC, a business that made and sold the drugs.
Two men from Provo, 32-year-old Alexander Ahn and 32-year-old Min Kim, ran a Utah company called Minoxidil Solutions that sold the drugs after Regrowth agreed with the FDA to pull them from the market.
All four are charged with conspiracy to introduce misbranded drugs into interstate commerce, punishable by up to five years in prison and $250,000 fine.
The FDA alleges Lee made his own formulas and recipes dating to 1996.
